Khejri Association was formally established in 1995 by two families – the Unnithans in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India and the Jansens in Bremen, Germany with a view to serve the poor and the suffering in this region on a voluntary basis. The Association/Trust was subsequently legalised and registered with the Government of Rajasthan (reg.no.815/98). While the general objectives of the Trust are to regenerate the environment around Todiramzanipura through sustainable integrated development, including the improvement of the general well-being of the people of this region, the immediate need, as indicated by the local people, was for a primary health centre/clinic.
The Jansens created a supporting fund-raising organisation in Bremen called 'Khejri Verein'. The health centre started functioning on 10th February 1995 in an annexe to the garage of the Unnithans. With the support of friends and various private organisations we were able to construct a proper building for the health centre on land donated by the Unnithans, which became functional in early 1999. The clinic receives financial support from private individuals and organisations in India and abroad.
